This issue of X-men is full of good and bad things. I'm happy to say that it seems that the title is starting to finally move along story wise since the new creative direction was intorduced in issue #500.
I also really like the new paradigm of the book. The X-men basically being a militaristic strike-force with an alternating roster depending on what is needed really works for me.
The Good:
- Pretty art
- Nice use of humor and references to X-men history
- All of the characterizations are spot on (except for maybe Dazzler's)
The Bad:
- Some of the females look the same
- The introduction on the first page. The backdrop and the ink make it very hard to read.
Overall this was a fun read and continues to make use of the X-men's new location in San Fransisco. This would be a good read for any long time X-men fan, but if you're a newcomer I'd be hesitant to recommend this simply because of the extensive dependance on past continuity.
